Aero Simulation, Inc. Exhibits Reconfigurable Simulator at 25th Interservice/Industry Training, Simulation, and Education Conference (I/ITSEC)Tampa, Florida - December 5, 2003 - Aero Simulation, Inc., (ASI) today announced that the company’s Reconfigurable Cockpit Procedures Trainer (RCPT) for the USCG’s Aviation Training Center (ATC) in Mobile, Alabama was one of the “hits” of the annual I/ITSEC Conference and Exposition at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando. It was a rare time when the device’s seats did not contain interested pilots and training device experts. When delivered, the device will support initial, re-qualification and recurrent training in the service’s HH-60J and HH-65B rotary wing aircraft, however potential customers from each of the U.S. Armed Forces and foreign military attendees could easily see that the device was adaptable to virtually any type of aircraft. “ASI appreciates the fact that the Coast Guard allowed the company to exhibit the device, which will be delivered to Mobile in early 2004,” said Joe Fernandez, President and CEO of ASI. “ATC Mobile has been one of our most important customers since 1996 and we look forward to this new opportunity to support this important Coast Guard activity.” uscg_rcpt_05.jpg In addition to the touchscreens used to display the cockpit instrumentation, both the pilot and copilot crew stations are equipped with replicated aircraft seats as well as a simulated cyclic and collective at the pilot’s station to further enhance the fidelity of the device. These flight controls provide the pilot with control placement, tactile feel, and range of motion cues. The various switches on each of the flight control grips are actively monitored by the flight simulation and provide input to the flight simulation computer for accurate system modeling and behavior. Designed to be quickly re-configured between aircraft types, these grips can be easily removed and replaced with the type appropriate for the aircraft configuration being simulated. iitsec2003_7.jpg ASI looks forward to further, in-depth exploration of specific requirements for RCPTs as a follow-on to discussions begun during I/ITSEC.
