Aero Simulation, Inc. awarded contract for CH-53E and CH-46E Aircrew Procedures Trainers Upgrades

Tampa, Florida – August 31, 2007 - Aero Simulation Inc. (ASI), of Tampa, Florida today announced that the company has recently won the competition for major upgrades to CH-53E and CH-46E Aircrew Procedures Trainers (APTs) located at Marine Corps Air Station Futenma in Okinawa, Japan. Valued at approximately $6.5 million, the contract was awarded by the Naval Air Systems Command Orlando – Training Systems Division as a Delivery Order under ASI’s Training Systems Contract (TSC) II contract.

The multi-year upgrade effort requires the delivery of PC-based image generators, projector system replacements, computer rehosts, development of brownout simulation and correction of existing operational discrepancies on both training systems. As options for the CH-53E trainer, ASI will also deliver Forward Looking Infrared Radar improvements, integration of the USMC Aviation Common Computing Environment, and develop and integrate Aircraft Survivability Equipment, the AN/AYH-3 Integrated Mechanical Diagnostic System (IMDS) and an Enhanced Aircrew Externals Trainer. Through these upgrades, ASI will increase training system reliability and reduce total life cycle costs, through leveraging commonality with other fielded USMC training devices, such as the CH-53E Weapons Systems Trainer and the MV-22B Containerized Flight Training Device.

Dr. C. Michael McCarthy, ASI’s President stated “ASI looks forward to this opportunity to provide the U.S. Marine Corps with major upgrades to these important forward-based trainers. Our ability to modify existing trainers with minimal risk, while rapidly incorporating today’s leading technology will allow us to meet the Marine Corps’ demanding requirements on this program. We appreciate the continued confidence that NAVAIR and the Marine Corps Team has shown in our ability to successfully perform this type of work and look forward to working with them to make this program a success.”
