CH-46E

CH-46E Aircrew Procedures Trainer
ASI received a contract from NAWCTSD in February 1999 to design, produce, and deliver a CH-46E Aircrew Procedures Trainer (APT) for the U.S. Marine Corps by extensively refurbishing and modifying an existing APT cockpit from Device 2F172. The resulting high-fidelity device replicated the physical and performance characteristics of the CH-46E helicopter. The new APT included a fully functional cockpit mockup surrounded by a continuous-display out-the-window visual image comprised of four view-ports. The visual system replicated day, dusk, night, and Night Vision Goggle (NVG) compatible scenes that were correlated with the in-cockpit radar simulation and the simulated threat environment. The …

T-34C, T-44A, TH-57B and TH-57C

T-34C, T-44A, TH-57B and TH-57C Operational Flight Trainers

ASI received a contract from NAWCTSD in June 1998 to modify forty-five T-34C, T-44A, TH-57B, and TH-57C flight trainers located at NAS Whiting Field, NAS Pensacola, and NAS Corpus Christi, and to provide Interactive Courseware (ICW) for the T-44A trainers. The upgrade to the thirty-one T-34C trainers (Devices 2B37, 2B37A, 2B37B, and 2C42) includes addition of a simulated Global Positioning System (GPS) and VHF radio selector. The upgrade to the five T-44A trainers (Devices 2F129) includes computer rehost, I/O system replacement, simulation of a Flight Management System, and replacement of the Instructor/Operator Station (IOS) with a new …

    SH-3H

    SH-3H Weapon Systems Trainer
ASI received a contract from NAWCTSD in March 1996 to improve the flight fidelity of the Device 2F64C Weapon Systems Trainer (WST), to incorporate aircraft system changes, and to implement other general improvements. At the time ASI received this contract, the WST was being modified by another contractor to replace the original Harris 1000 host computer system with a Harris Nighthawk system. Within a few months after ASI received this contract, NAWCTSD terminated the re-host effort and asked ASI, as a modification of the contract scope, to rapidly re-install and integrate the original Harris 1000 host computer system, and to …

    EA-6B

    EA-6B Weapon Systems Trainers

ASI received a contract from NAWCTSD in September 1995 to modify the five EA-6B trainers located at NAS Whidbey Island and MCAS Cherry Point: Device 2F119A Weapon Systems Trainer (WST), two Device 2F143 Operational Flight/Navigation Trainers (OF/NT), and two Device 15E22C Team Tactics Trainers (TTT). These trainers make extensive use of unmodified aircraft equipment and operational flight software. The contract included computer rehost of all five trainers, from a mix of Encore 32/67, 32/77, and 32/97 models to Encore RSX computers. It included incorporation of an Electronic Flight Instrument System (EFIS) in place of simulated flight instruments, incorporation …

    KC-130

    KC-130 Operational Flight Trainers

ASI received a contract from NAWCTSD in April 1995 to modify three KC-130 Operational Flight Trainers located at MCAS El Toro and MCAS Cherry Point, Devices 2F107, 2F107A and 2F152.

The modification of Device 2F107 included replacement of the Perkin Elmer (PE) 3260 host computer system with the Concurrent MAXION 9502, replacement of the I/O system, replacement of the Instructor/Operator Station (IOS), and replacement of the analog communication system with a new digital system. It also included incorporation of numerous aircraft system changes. These involved addition of Control Display Navigation Units in the trainer cockpit and IOS, addition …

    SH-60F

    SH-60F Weapon Systems Trainers

ASI received a contract from NAWCTSD in April 1993 to update the engine simulation of the two Device 2F146 Weapon Systems Trainers, to update the aircraft systems simulation, to improve the trainers’ aural cueing and vibration characteristics, and to modify specific features of the Instructor/Operator Stations (IOS). The new engine simulation replicated the T700-GE-401C with Digital Electronic Control Unit (DECU). The aircraft systems simulation update included modification of the digital Automatic Flight Control System (AFCS). The contract was completed in November 1994.
