ASI was selected by the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) to rapidly design, manufacture, and deliver a Reconfigurable Cockpit Procedures Trainer (RCPT) for the USCG Air Training Center (ATC). The RCPT is a low cost / high fidelity trainer offering the USCG an additional training platform to train both HH-60J and HH-65C pilots at the ATC in Mobile AL. The RCPT incorporates approved Operational Flight Training software, simulated flight controls and rudder pedals with toe brakes. ASI received a contract to design, produce, install, and test major modifications to the U.S. Coast Guard’s HU-25, HH-60J, and HH-65C Operational Flight Trainers at the USCG Aviation Training Center in Mobile, AL. The modifications included new Host Computer Systems, Control Loading Systems, Trainer Input/Output Systems, Visual Systems, Navigation Systems, Communications Systems, Radar Systems, Computer Added Debrief Systems (CADS), Instructor Operator Stations, Motion System analysis, Seat Shaker upgrades, Mission Computer Systems, and other Cockpit Upgrades.

The purpose of this modification effort is to increase training system reliability and reduce total life cycle support costs and obsolescence issues. ASI was selected by NAWCTSD to provide two APTs for the U.S. Marine Helicopter Squadron One (HMX-1), Quantico, Virginia, to conduct initial training for conversion to the VH aircraft, and proficiency training to maintain currency and skill level. These APTs enhanced the training associated with executive transport operations, cockpit familiarization procedures, Emergency Procedures (EP) checks, aircrew coordination training, and instrument and NATOPS checks.
